Retainer Instructions
Wearing Your Retainer:
Keep your retainer in unless eating, and always store it in its case when not in use—this helps avoid loss or damage, especially in places like school lunchrooms or restaurants.
Cleaning:
Clean your retainer daily using a toothbrush and toothpaste, and rinse with warm (not hot) water to prevent odor and plaque buildup. You can use specialized cleaners like Efferdent®, but they don’t replace brushing.
Handling:
Retainers are delicate; handle them with care to avoid breakage. Store them away from pets, and never attempt to adjust them yourself—contact us for help instead.
Usage Tips:
Practice talking or reading aloud to adjust more quickly to wearing your retainer. Always remove it when swimming and keep it away from heat sources that could warp it.
Maintenance:
Bring your retainer to all orthodontic appointments for proper checks. If lost or damaged, replacement can be costly, so proper maintenance is essential for longevity.
